Robert "Bob" Daniel Hyde

Robert "Bob" Hyde passed away unexpectedly at home on March 14, 2023. He was only 62 years old. His family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Bob was a hard worker, loving father and grandfather, die hard Alabama fan, and devoted pet parent. After graduating from Russellville High School in 1979, he obtained his associates from Northwest-Shoals CC and became an electronics engineer, contracting with CSC and Boeing for NASA in Huntsville, AL for over 30 years. Though he worked tirelessly to build the life he dreamed of for his family, Bob cherished quality time with his children and grandchildren and gifted them with countless wonderful memories, from summer vacations at the beach and Disney world to weekends watching Harry Potter and eating at his favorite Chinese restaurant. Bob was always there when his family needed him. Whenever his children were in trouble, he'd be there to offer a hand and help them pick up the pieces. It was no surprise, then, that he returned to Russellville to care for his mother in her final years and spend summers spoiling his grandkids and grandneices and nephew. The popsicles were endless and cartoons always on the big screen (when he wasn't watching Charmed). Bob had many passions in life. When weekends rolled around, he could be found outside beautifying his yard. He was gifted with a green thumb and loved being outdoors. Each spring, he replaced the annuals in his flowerbeds and filled his porch with potted plants. Indoors, Bob dedicated the decor to his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. He had amassed such a collection of Alabama paraphernalia; he had a designated "Alabama" room and a closet full of Alabama apparel. During football season, the game was always on TV and Eli Gold on the radio. His best friend and fellow Alabama enthusiast, Mitzi, even had a brother who played for Alabama. Bob's love for Alabama paled in comparison to the unconditional love he shared with his pets. He had many best friends throughout the years, Max, Alex, Calico, Sable, Bandit, Tiger, and Ed to name a few. Dogs and cats from all over found a warm welcome and happy home when they showed up on Bob's doorstep. He always had a spot on the couch and treats in the cupboard for his adopted fur babies, and they were always there for Bob with a wagging tail and slobbery kisses. He said he was never lonely because he had his dogs and cats. "No heaven will not ever Heaven be. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Hyde & Verna Beth Hyde Bradley; stepfather, Wilburn Bradley; grandparents, Elizabeth Taylor Hawkins, Durward Taylor, Burnie Hyde, Tom Hyde; and several aunts & uncles. A private burial was Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Knights of Pythias Cemetery. The family will have a celebration of Bob's life at a later date. Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
