Sherry Jane Davis

Sherry Jane Davis, age 56, of Russellville, passed away on Tuesday, January 01, 2019 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home. Sherry was a member of Russellville Church of Christ and a 1981 graduate of Phil Campbell High School. She earned her Master's Degree and loved to remind her brothers of this accomplishment. She had 29 years of service in Franklin County Schools and a majority of that was at Phil Campbell High School. Sherry loved being a teacher at Phil Campbell High School, where she loved her students, offered them the gift of encouragement, enjoyed traveling with her students, and making so many wonderful memories. Sherry was an active member of Franklin County Education Association and Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Women Educators Association. She has touched so many lives and will be remembered by all who knew her. From a friend's Facebook post, "Sherry's advice was to love God, enjoy life, do a lot of fun things, travel, be kind, and love each other." She believed in telling everyone how much she loved them, and continued doing that through her final days. The visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 05, 2019 at Phil Campbell High School Gymnasium, with the service following at 2:00 p.m. Speaking at the service will be Sherry's brothers, Bryan & Bruce Davis; friends, Amy Dolan-Gunderman, Jan Lauderdale, several former students, and Bro. Jonathan Caldwell. Burial will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery. She was preceded in death father, Jack L. Davis; mother, Martha Ann "Mot" Reeps Davis; twin sister, Terry Elaine Davis; grandparents, W.C. "Sleepy" & Delta Davis, Romas Glen & Marie Reeps; and special friend, Tish Swinney Benford. She leaves to cherish her memory, her brothers, Michael Bryan Davis, Bruce Alan Davis (wife, Pat), nieces, and nephews, Chase Davis (wife, Shelby), Blake Davis, Codie Marynowitz (husband, Ed), Blair Davis, Calli Davis Howard (husband, Levi); great-nephews, Braxton Davis, Ward, Mack, & Whit Marynowitz, Hank Davis; great-niece, Blakelee Davis; aunts & uncles, Della Ruth & Denton McCarley, Corrine Davis, Martha Nell Reeps, Pete Hill; and a host of special friends, classmates, and former students. The pallbearers will be Brian Pounders, Brad Pounders, Tanner Prince, Andrew Guinn, James McCarley, Phillip Fretwell, Michael Davis, and Mark Reeps. The honorary pallbearers will be fellow Delta Kappa Gamma members. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks the staff of Burns Nursing Home & Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home for your love and care of Sherry.
