Robert "Bob" Lucian Staples

Robert ?Bob? Lucian Staples, 82, Russellville passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at his residence. In the book of James, it states that ?without faith good works are dead.? Bob showed his faith everyday of his life. Bob served in the United States Army in both World War II and the Korean War. Bob worked as a businessman and owner of the Red Rooster stores for thirty plus years. He was a fifty plus year member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He also served as Monroe Shrine Club president and President of the Southgate Merchants Association. He was married to Tommie Lou Kimbrough on July 3, 1958. Later he enjoyed camping and traveling in his RV with his best friend and wife, Tommie Lou. The visitation will be 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Keith Barnett. Interment will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Joshua & Effie Staples; and son, Lawrence Alan Staples. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Tommie Louise Kimbrough Staples; son, Paul Tommy Staples (wife, Kaylen); daughter-in-law, Jane Staples; grandchildren, Robert Alan Staples, Patricia Staples Jacobs (husband, Chris); David Franklin Staples (wife, Lia), Betsy Staples Miniclier (husband, Jeff); great-grandchildren, Zachary Jacobs, Wesley Alan Staples, Sydney Staples, William Miniclier, Jane Miniclier, John Alan Miniclier, Henry David Staples; Allison Marie Staples; brother, Harold Lewis; niece, Sally Gusmus (husband, Randy); and nephew, James Travis Parker His pallbearers will be Zachary Jacobs, Chris Jacobs, Robert Alan Staples, Wesley Alan Staples, David Staples, Chris Parker, Tommy Mashburn, and Don Claunch. Bob was the most thoughtful and understanding man you would ever meet. He never missed a birthday or anniversary. Bob enjoyed every minute with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He thought the world of his family and they thought the world of him. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. The family would like to thank North Highlands Church of Christ, Dr. Danny McFall, and Hospice of the Shoals for the kindness they have shown.
