John Edward Vandiver

John Edward Vandiver, age 86, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Sunday, July 02, 2023, at Shoals Hospital Senior Care. John worked and retired from Robbins Tire and Rubber Plant continued to be a farmer and loved working on his land. He was the oldest living member of Mtn Home #1 Missionary Baptist Church and in the last few years, he enjoyed attending the Colbert County Cowboy Church. John enjoyed helping anyone he could, and he touched a lot of lives. He always had a special love for children and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was everything to John and he always had a story to tell. He was of the generation that knew many trades and could fix almost everything. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ilene Posey Vandiver; parents, Hugh Edward and Lizzie (Pennington) Vandiver; sisters, Evelyn Johnson, Lecie Green; and brothers, Archie Vandiver and Willie Vandiver. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Eddie Vandiver (Kathryn); daughters, Phyllis Bohannon (Dwight), Nancy Grissom (Denson); Sissy Vandiver (Billy); brothers, Ray Vandiver (Patricia), G.W. Vandiver (Judy); sister, Libby Hester; grandchildren, Melina Fuller (Isaac), Brandon Vandiver (Kristy), Loni Clemons (Joe), Kristen Bumpas (Drew), Jordan Boyd (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Ethan & Caleb Fuller, Madison, Morgan, Makinley, and Parker Vandiver, Max and Maddie Bumpas, Memphis & Montgomery Grissom, Macon Clemons, Cooper Grissom, and Palmer Boyd. The visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. Friday, July 07, 2023, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow in the chapel at 6:00 p.m. with Bro. Truman Sutton officiating the service. The burial will be at Vandiver Hollow Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Eddie Vandiver, Bradley Tidwell, Drew Bumpas, Joe Clemons, John Brandon Vandiver, and Billy Brady.
