Abraham "Joe" Julio Martinez

Abraham (Joe) Martinez died at the age of 74 on Sunday, February 05, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He passed away with his family by his side in his home surrounded with love per his wishes. He was born in Basin, Wyoming on Wednesday, April 14, 1937. He has been a resident of Russellville, AL since retiring from the United States Air Force in the early 1970?s. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Joe started life being raised by his grandparents in Kansas. His humble beginnings were a tiny dirt floored two-room house surrounded by little except the love of his family. He left home at the age of twelve to go to work and never stopped working until a few days before he died. Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years before retiring. He served in Iwo Jima and Vietnam. Also, he was stationed in Japan, Minot, North Dakota, and Germany. While in the Air Force, he continued his education until he received his High School Certificate. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he came to Russellville, AL and went to work for Glassrock, which is now Muscle Shoals Minerals. He worked in the plant full-time and attended the University of North Alabama. He graduated with the Degree of Bachelor of Science. His hard work and dedication acquired him the position of Vice-President of International Sales. For years, he traveled around the world hiring agents in each country and getting the customers to buy the MGO Powder. He retired from Muscle Shoals Minerals in 1999. Since then, Joe opened his own company which is Lincoln Bee International Trading, Inc. He has been a consultant and salesman for Magnelec, a plant in Saltillo, Mexico. He helped them set up the International Sales Market and customer base in many countries, as well. From his humble beginnings, he achieved a lot in his life. But first and foremost was his love for his family and friends. He was dedicated to being a good provider and stressed taking care of your family and getting an education. He had a heart of gold with a generous spirit, always helping others throughout his life. We were truly blessed to be a part of his life and we shall always miss him. The visitation will be 7:00 ? 9:00 p.m. Thursday, February 09, 2012 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Bro. Joe Lennox will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery will full military honors. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Martha Burns Martinez; daughter, Maxine Martinez; mother, Maria DeLa Luz Aguilera; grandfather, Luciano Martinez, grandmother, Maxima Martinez; and favorite uncle, Leo Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Mary Janice (Smith) Martinez; son, Sam Martinez, Iron Mountain, MI; daughter & son-in-law, Rita & Jessie Dison, Anchorage AK; step-son & wife, Robin & Laura Green, Hartselle, AL; grandchildren, Fred Martinez, New Orleans, LA, Christopher Martinez, Muscle Shoals, AL, Jeffrey Dison, Anchorage, AK, Jessica Dison, Anchorage, AK; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Martinez, Town Creek, AL, Presley Martinez, Muscle Shoals, AL; brothers, Alexander Roy Aguilera, Wichita, KS, Clark Dennis Aguilera, Denver, CO, Ben Aguilera, Oro Valley, AZ, Allen Aguilera, Garden City, KS, Patrick Aguilera, Wichita, KS, Charles Aguilera, Garden City, KS; sisters, Nina Marr, Westminster, CO, Rose Zorn, Denver, CO, Susie Padgett, Denver, CO, Martha Perez, Denver, CO, Carol Lubbers, Denver, CO; special aunt, Isabell Martinez, Liberal, KS, special cousin, Virginia Martinez, Liberal, KS; wonderful sister-in-law, Margaret Boyles, Russellville, AL; and many nieces & nephews. Also, to the Keller Hospice Group who were such a blessing to us during our most desperate time of need, director, Denise Berry, Fran Winfro, Joe?s nurse, and Grace Gunn, his caregiver.
